The 1000 Women of Gravel Initiative was launched in 2022, drawing inspiration from pioneering movements like the “200 Women Riding 200 Miles” at Unbound in 2017. We set out with a bold vision: to showcase the incredible impact women are making in the sport of gravel racing. The goal of bringing 1,000 women to Gravel Worlds in 2022 was ambitious, but on August 20th, 2022, we made history—creating what we proudly call "Herstory"—with 1,000 women participating in our event.
Now, three years later, we've heard countless stories of how this initiative has inspired women to pursue their passion for gravel racing. With that momentum, the 1000 Women of Gravel Initiative is back, revitalized and stronger than ever.
Moving forward, we are setting a new standard. We don’t just want 1,000 women to participate—this number will now be our baseline, not our goal. We are committed to making this initiative a force for change, with each year growing the number of women involved in gravel racing.

When
The 1000 Women of Gravel Initiative at Gravel Worlds 2025 will take place from August 21st to 24th in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the Sandhills Global Event Center. This exciting initiative celebrates women of all athletic backgrounds and levels — whether you're a cyclist, runner, swimmer, or triathlete (yes, all triathletes are part of this amazing movement!), you are ONE! We have something for you whether you are a first timer or an event veteran.
Gravel Worlds is not just a race, but a celebration of the gravel community. Come early and immerse yourself in the energy of the event! On Thursday and Friday, we’ll host a vibrant two-day indoor expo which will feature women-owned and women-focused brands. You can also participate in a women’s-only group ride, enjoy a women’s panel, engage in empowering workshops, and experience fun activations designed to inspire and connect.

Our event would be nothing without our volunteers, they are the backbone of our race. If you volunteer at Gravel Worlds 2025, you are ONE! We have plenty of volunteer slots available from check-in, to check point help, to tear down crew.
